"I’ve been wanting to paint a deep-sea diver for a while now. About a year ago, I was in my dads office and stumbled upon some pictures and newspaper clippings of my father’s grandfather working as a deep-sea diver in Cape May and other parts of the northeastern coast. Referred to as “one of the country’s most skilled deep-sea divers,” I decided to pay tribute to my great great grandfather through this piece, along with the lineage of my father’s family, all of whom have worked on the water ever since.  Emil Arenberg, my great great grandfather passed down his love and respect of the ocean through a number of generations all the way to me and I am honored to be able to capture that in this painting."
